εἶπεν δὲ ὅτι Οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι συνέθεντο τοῦ ἐρωτῆσαί σε ὅπως αὔριον εἰς τὸ συνέδριον καταγάγῃς τὸν Παῦλον ὡς μέλλοντές τι ἀκριβέστερον πυνθάνεσθαι περὶ αὐτοῦ
And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would more inquire somewhat of him perfectly.
Οἱ οὖν δυνατοὶ ἐν ὑμῖν φησίν συγκαταβάντες εἴ τί ἐστιν ἄτοπον ἐν τῷ ἀνδρὶ τούτω κατηγορείτωσαν αὐτοῦ
if Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, there be any wickedness in him.
Διακούσομαί σου ἔφη ὅταν καὶ οἱ κατήγοροί σου παραγένωνται· ἐκέλευσεν τε αὐτόν ἐν τῷ πραιτωρίῳ τοῦ Ἡρῴδου φυλάσσεσθαι
I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall.
οὓς δεῖ ἐπὶ σοῦ παρεῖναι καὶ κατηγορεῖν εἴ τι ἔχοιεν πρὸς μέ
Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.
πρὸς οὓς ἀπεκρίθην ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἔθος Ῥωμαίοις χαρίζεσθαί τινα ἄνθρωπον εἰς ἀπώλειαν πρὶν ἢ ὁ κατηγορούμενος κατὰ πρόσωπον ἔχοι τοὺς κατηγόρους τόπον τε ἀπολογίας λάβοι περὶ τοῦ ἐγκλήματος
To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face face, to and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
Γενομένης δὲ ἡμέρας ποιήσαντες τινες τῶν Ἰουδαίων συστροφὴν ἀνεθεμάτισαν ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες μήτε φαγεῖν μήτε πίειν ἕως οὗ ἀποκτείνωσιν τὸν Παῦλον
And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound under a curse, themselves saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
ἐγνώσθη δὲ τῷ Σαύλῳ ἡ ἐπιβουλὴ αὐτῶν παρετηροῦν τε τὰς πύλας ἡμέρας τε καὶ νυκτὸς ὅπως αὐτὸν ἀνέλωσιν·
But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.
Λοιπόν ἀδελφοί χαίρετε καταρτίζεσθε παρακαλεῖσθε τὸ αὐτὸ φρονεῖτε εἰρηνεύετε καὶ ὁ θεὸς τῆς ἀγάπης καὶ εἰρήνης ἔσται μεθ' ὑμῶν
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
ἀπέχεσθαι εἰδωλοθύτων καὶ αἵματος καὶ πνικτοῦ καὶ πορνείας ἐξ ὧν διατηροῦντες ἑαυτοὺς εὖ πράξετε Ἔῤῥωσθε
That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
