How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, from and seek not the honour that cometh God only?

πάντα δὲ τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν ποιοῦσιν πρὸς τὸ θεαθῆναι τοῖς ἀνθρώποις· πλατύνουσιν δὲ τὰ φυλακτήρια αὐτῶν καὶ μεγαλύνουσιν τὰ κράσπεδα τῶν ἱματίων αὐτῶν
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
διότι τὸ φρόνημα τῆς σαρκὸς ἔχθρα εἰς θεόν τῷ γὰρ νόμῳ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐχ ὑποτάσσεται οὐδὲ γὰρ δύναται·
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
לָכֵן נְאֻם-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָמוֹר אָמַרְתִּי בֵּֽיתְךָ וּבֵית אָבִיךָ יִתְהַלְּכוּ לְפָנַי עַד-עוֹלָם וְעַתָּה נְאֻם-יְהוָה חָלִילָה לִּי כִּֽי-מְכַבְּדַי אֲכַבֵּד וּבֹזַי יֵקָֽלּוּ׃
Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
ἵνα τὸ δοκίμιον ὑμῶν τῆς πίστεως πολυ τιμιώτερον χρυσίου τοῦ ἀπολλυμένου διὰ πυρὸς δὲ δοκιμαζομένου εὑρεθῇ εἰς ἔπαινον καὶ τιμὴν καὶ δόξαν ἐν ἀποκαλύψει Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ·
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
τοῖς μὲν καθ' ὑπομονὴν ἔργου ἀγαθοῦ δόξαν καὶ τιμὴν καὶ ἀφθαρσίαν ζητοῦσιν ζωὴν αἰώνιον
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-דָּוִיד אָבִי יַעַן אֲשֶׁר הָיָה עִם-לְבָבְךָ לִבְנוֹת בַּיִת לִשְׁמִי הֱֽטִיבוֹתָ כִּי הָיָה עִם-לְבָבֶֽךָ׃
But the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart:
δόξα δὲ καὶ τιμὴ καὶ εἰρήνη παντὶ τῷ ἐργαζομένῳ τὸ ἀγαθόν Ἰουδαίῳ τε πρῶτον καὶ Ἕλληνι·
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
ὥστε μὴ πρὸ καιροῦ τι κρίνετε ἕως ἂν ἔλθῃ ὁ κύριος ὃς καὶ φωτίσει τὰ κρυπτὰ τοῦ σκότους καὶ φανερώσει τὰς βουλὰς τῶν καρδιῶν· καὶ τότε ὁ ἔπαινος γενήσεται ἑκάστῳ ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the the Lord come, who both will bring to light hidden things of the darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
ἔφη δέ αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ Εὖ δοῦλε ἀγαθὲ καὶ πιστέ ἐπὶ ὀλίγα ἦς πιστός ἐπὶ πολλῶν σε καταστήσω· εἴσελθε εἰς τὴν χαρὰν τοῦ κυρίου σου
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Εὖ ἀγαθὲ δοῦλε ὅτι ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ πιστὸς ἐγένου ἴσθι ἐξουσίαν ἔχων ἐπάνω δέκα πόλεων
And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
οὐ γὰρ ὁ ἑαυτὸν συνίστων ἐκεῖνός ἐστιν δόκιμος ἀλλ' ὃν ὁ κύριος συνίστησιν
For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
φανερὰ δέ ἐστιν τὰ ἔργα τῆς σαρκός ἅτινά ἐστιν μοιχεία πορνεία ἀκαθαρσία ἀσέλγεια
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Ἀδελφοί μου μὴ ἐν προσωποληψίαις ἔχετε τὴν πίστιν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τῆς δόξης
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
Βλέπετε ἀδελφοί μήποτε ἔσται ἔν τινι ὑμῶν καρδία πονηρὰ ἀπιστίας ἐν τῷ ἀποστῆναι ἀπὸ θεοῦ ζῶντος
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
πᾶς γὰρ ὁ φαῦλα πράσσων μισεῖ τὸ φῶς καὶ οὐκ ἔρχεται πρὸς τὸ φῶς ἵνα μὴ ἐλεγχθῇ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ·
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
διατί τὴν λαλιὰν τὴν ἐμὴν οὐ γινώσκετε; ὅτι οὐ δύνασθε ἀκούειν τὸν λόγον τὸν ἐμόν.
Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
αὕτη δέ ἐστιν ἡ αἰώνιος ζωή ἵνα γινώσκωσιν σὲ τὸν μόνον ἀληθινὸν θεὸν καὶ ὃν ἀπέστειλας Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
