And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.
וַֽאֲרָם יָֽצְאוּ גְדוּדִים וַיִּשְׁבּוּ מֵאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל נַֽעֲרָה קְטַנָּה וַתְּהִי לִפְנֵי אֵשֶׁת נַֽעֲמָֽן׃
And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
Ἦλθεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς πάλιν εἰς τὴν Κανὰ τῆς Γαλιλαίας ὅπου ἐποίησεν τὸ ὕδωρ οἶνον καὶ ἦν τις βασιλικὸς οὗ ὁ υἱὸς ἠσθένει ἐν Καπερναούμ·
So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
וַיִּמְצָא יוֹסֵף חֵן בְּעֵינָיו וַיְשָׁרֶת אֹתוֹ וַיַּפְקִדֵהוּ עַל-בֵּיתוֹ וְכָל-יֶשׁ-לוֹ נָתַן בְּיָדֽוֹ׃
And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אֶל-עַבְדּוֹ זְקַן בֵּיתוֹ הַמֹּשֵׁל בְּכָל-אֲשֶׁר-לוֹ שִֽׂים-נָא יָֽדְךָ תַּחַת יְרֵכִֽי׃
And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:
וַֽיהוָה בֵּרַךְ אֶת-אֲדֹנִי מְאֹד וַיִּגְדָּל וַיִּתֶּן-לוֹ צֹאן וּבָקָר וְכֶסֶף וְזָהָב וַֽעֲבָדִם וּשְׁפָחֹת וּגְמַלִּים וַֽחֲמֹרִֽים׃
And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.
מְפַנֵּק מִנֹּעַר עַבְדּוֹ וְאַחֲרִיתוֹ יִהְיֶה מָנֽוֹן׃
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
ἦν δὲ Μαρία ἡ ἀλείψασα τὸν κύριον μύρῳ καὶ ἐκμάξασα τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ ταῖς θριξὶν αὐτῆς ἧς ὁ ἀδελφὸς Λάζαρος ἠσθένει
(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ ἑκατόνταρχος τὸ γενόμενον ἐδόξασεν τὸν θεὸν λέγων Ὄντως ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος δίκαιος ἦν
Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
Οἱ δοῦλοι ὑπακούετε κατὰ πάντα τοῖς κατὰ σάρκα κυρίοις μὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοδουλείαις ὡς ἀνθρωπάρεσκοι ἀλλ' ἐν ἁπλότητι καρδίας φοβούμενοι τὸν Θεόν·
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
ὅτι θυγάτηρ μονογενὴς ἦν αὐτῷ ὡς ἐτῶν δώδεκα καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπέθνῃσκεν Ἐν δὲ τῷ ὑπάγειν αὐτὸν οἱ ὄχλοι συνέπνιγον αὐτόν
For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
אִם-הָלַכְתִּי עִם-שָׁוְא וַתַּחַשׁ עַל-מִרְמָה רַגְלִֽי׃
If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
וַתָּמָת דְּבֹרָה מֵינֶקֶת רִבְקָה וַתִּקָּבֵר מִתַּחַת לְבֵֽית-אֵל תַּחַת הָֽאַלּוֹן וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ אַלּוֹן בָּכֽוּת׃
But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Beth-el under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.
Ὁ δὲ ἑκατόνταρχος καὶ οἱ μετ' αὐτοῦ τηροῦντες τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἰδόντες τὸν σεισμὸν καὶ τὰ γενόμενα ἐφοβήθησαν σφόδρα λέγοντες Ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς ἦν οὗτος
Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἑκατόνταρχος προσελθὼν ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ χιλιάρχῳ λέγων Ὅρα Τί μέλλεις ποιεῖν ὁ γὰρ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος Ῥωμαῖός ἐστιν
When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.
Ἀνὴρ δέ τις ἦν ἐν Καισαρείᾳ ὀνόματι Κορνήλιος ἑκατοντάρχης ἐκ σπείρης τῆς καλουμένης Ἰταλικῆς
There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
ὡς δὲ ἀπῆλθεν ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ λαλῶν τῷ Κορνηλίῳ φωνήσας δύο τῶν οἰκετῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ στρατιώτην εὐσεβῆ τῶν προσκαρτερούντων αὐτῷ
And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that continually; waited on him
τῇ τε ἑτέρᾳ κατήχθημεν εἰς Σιδῶνα φιλανθρώπως τε ὁ Ἰούλιος τῷ Παύλῳ χρησάμενος ἐπέτρεψεν πρὸς φίλους πορευθέντα ἐπιμελείας τυχεῖν
And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave liberty him to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
προσκαλεσάμενος δὲ ὁ Παῦλος ἕνα τῶν ἑκατονταρχῶν ἔφη Τὸν νεανίαν τοῦτον ἀπάγαγε πρὸς τὸν χιλίαρχον ἔχει γὰρ τι ἀπαγγεῖλαί αὐτῷ
Then Paul called unto one of the centurions him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
Ὡς δὲ ἐκρίθη τοῦ ἀποπλεῖν ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν Ἰταλίαν παρεδίδουν τόν τε Παῦλον καί τινας ἑτέρους δεσμώτας ἑκατοντάρχῃ ὀνόματι Ἰουλίῳ σπείρης Σεβαστῆς
And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.
