ἡ γὰρ ὕπανδρος γυνὴ τῷ ζῶντι ἀνδρὶ δέδεται νόμῳ· ἐὰν δὲ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἀνήρ κατήργηται ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου τοῦ ἀνδρός
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
τοῖς δὲ γεγαμηκόσιν παραγγέλλω οὐκ ἐγὼ ἀλλ' ὁ κύριος γυναῖκα ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς μὴ χωρισθῆναι
And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
οὕτως ὀφείλουσιν οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶν τὰς ἑαυτῶν γυναῖκας ὡς τὰ ἑαυτῶν σώματα ὁ ἀγαπῶν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα ἑαυτὸν ἀγαπᾷ
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
וַאֲמַרְתֶּם עַל-מָה עַל כִּי-יְהוָה הֵעִיד בֵּינְךָ וּבֵין׀ אֵשֶׁת נְעוּרֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה בָּגַדְתָּה בָּהּ וְהִיא חֲבֶרְתְּךָ וְאֵשֶׁת בְּרִיתֶֽךָ׃
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
הַעֹזֶבֶת אַלּוּף נְעוּרֶיהָ וְאֶת-בְּרִית אֱלֹהֶיהָ שָׁכֵֽחָה׃
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
