מִֽהֲרוּ שָׁכְחוּ מַעֲשָׂיו לֹֽא-חִכּוּ לַעֲצָתֽוֹ׃
They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
כִּי כָל-הָֽאֲנָשִׁים הָֽרֹאִים אֶת-כְּבֹדִי וְאֶת-אֹתֹתַי אֲשֶׁר-עָשִׂיתִי בְמִצְרַיִם וּבַמִּדְבָּר וַיְנַסּוּ אֹתִי זֶה עֶשֶׂר פְּעָמִים וְלֹא שָֽׁמְעוּ בְּקוֹלִֽי׃
Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
ᾧ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν ὑπήκοοι γενέσθαι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἀλλ' ἀπώσαντο καὶ ἐστράφησαν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν εἰς Αἴγυπτον
To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust from them, him and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
וְהֵם וַֽאֲבֹתֵינוּ הֵזִידוּ וַיַּקְשׁוּ אֶת-עָרְפָּם וְלֹא שָֽׁמְעוּ אֶל-מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
וַיּוֹסִיפוּ עוֹד לַחֲטֹא-לוֹ לַֽמְרוֹת עֶלְיוֹן בַּצִּיָּֽה׃
And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
זְכֹר אַל-תִּשְׁכַּח אֵת אֲשֶׁר-הִקְצַפְתָּ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בַּמִּדְבָּר לְמִן-הַיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר-יָצָאתָ׀ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם עַד-בֹּֽאֲכֶם עַד-הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה מַמְרִים הֱיִיתֶם עִם-יְהוָֽה׃
Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
וּבְנֵיכֶם יִֽהְיוּ רֹעִים בַּמִּדְבָּר אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה וְנָֽשְׂאוּ אֶת-זְנֽוּתֵיכֶם עַד-תֹּם פִּגְרֵיכֶם בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
וְֽאֶת-חַטַּאתְכֶם אֲשֶׁר-עֲשִׂיתֶם אֶת-הָעֵגֶל לָקַחְתִּי וָֽאֶשְׂרֹף אֹתוֹ׀ בָּאֵשׁ וָֽאֶכֹּת אֹתוֹ טָחוֹן הֵיטֵב עַד אֲשֶׁר-דַּק לְעָפָר וָֽאַשְׁלִךְ אֶת-עֲפָרוֹ אֶל-הַנַּחַל הַיֹּרֵד מִן-הָהָֽר׃
And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
(וילינו) וַיִּלּוֹנוּ כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל-מֹשֶׁה וְעַֽל-אַהֲרֹן בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָֽכְלוּ אֶת-הַמָּן אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה עַד-בֹּאָם אֶל-אֶרֶץ נוֹשָׁבֶת אֶת-הַמָּן אָֽכְלוּ עַד-בֹּאָם אֶל-קְצֵה אֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃
And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
Διό καθὼς λέγει τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον Σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
אַל-תַּקְשׁוּ לְבַבְכֶם כִּמְרִיבָה כְּיוֹם מַסָּה בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
הַזְּבָחִים וּמִנְחָה הִֽגַּשְׁתֶּם-לִי בַמִּדְבָּר אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
וָאֽוֹצִיאֵם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וָאֲבִאֵם אֶל-הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃
Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.
τίνες γὰρ ἀκούσαντες παρεπίκραναν ἀλλ' οὐ πάντες οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐξ Αἰγύπτου διὰ Μωσέως
For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
Οὐ θέλω δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν ἀδελφοί ὅτι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν πάντες ὑπὸ τὴν νεφέλην ἦσαν καὶ πάντες διὰ τῆς θαλάσσης διῆλθον
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
