πᾶσα πικρία καὶ θυμὸς καὶ ὀργὴ καὶ κραυγὴ καὶ βλασφημία ἀρθήτω ἀφ' ὑμῶν σὺν πάσῃ κακίᾳ
Let all be put bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, away from you, with all malice:
אַל-תְּבַהֵל בְּרֽוּחֲךָ לִכְעוֹס כִּי כַעַס בְּחֵיק כְּסִילִים יָנֽוּחַ׃
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם רַב-תְּבוּנָה וּקְצַר-רוּחַ מֵרִים אִוֶּֽלֶת׃
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
שֵׂכֶל אָדָם הֶאֱרִיךְ אַפּוֹ וְתִפאַרְתּוֹ עֲבֹר עַל-פָּֽשַׁע׃
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
μὴ ἑαυτοὺς ἐκδικοῦντες ἀγαπητοί ἀλλὰ δότε τόπον τῇ ὀργῇ γέγραπται γάρ Ἐμοὶ ἐκδίκησις ἐγὼ ἀνταποδώσω λέγει κύριος
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὀργιζόμενος τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ εἰκῆ ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει· ὃς δ' ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ Ῥακά ἔνοχος ἔσται τῷ συνεδρίῳ· ὃς δ' ἂν εἴπῃ Μωρέ ἔνοχος ἔσται εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός.
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן מֶֽה-עָשָׂה לְךָ הָעָם הַזֶּה כִּֽי-הֵבֵאתָ עָלָיו חֲטָאָה גְדֹלָֽה׃
And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
וַיִּחַר לִי מְאֹד כַּֽאֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶת-זַֽעֲקָתָם וְאֵת הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
καὶ περιβλεψάμενος αὐτοὺς μετ' ὀργῆς συλλυπούμενος ἐπὶ τῇ πωρώσει τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρα σου καὶ ἐξέτεινεν καὶ ἀποκατεστάθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ὑγιὴς ὡς ἡ ἄλλη
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
וַיַּקְהִלוּ מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן אֶת-הַקָּהָל אֶל-פְּנֵי הַסָּלַע וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם שִׁמְעוּ-נָא הַמֹּרִים הֲמִן-הַסֶּלַע הַזֶּה נוֹצִיא לָכֶם מָֽיִם׃
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
יֵֽאָסֵף אַֽהֲרֹן אֶל-עַמָּיו כִּי לֹא יָבֹא אֶל-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל אֲשֶׁר-מְרִיתֶם אֶת-פִּי לְמֵי מְרִיבָֽה׃
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
רוּחַ צָפוֹן תְּחוֹלֵֽל גָּשֶׁם וּפָנִים נִזְעָמִים לְשׁוֹן סָֽתֶר׃
The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
וַיַּעֲמֹד פִּֽינְחָס וַיְפַלֵּל וַתֵּעָצַר הַמַּגֵּפָֽה׃
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἠγανάκτησεν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἄφετε τὰ παιδία ἔρχεσθαι πρός με καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτά τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
וְיָֽרְדוּ כָל-עֲבָדֶיךָ אֵלֶּה אֵלַי וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוּוּ-לִי לֵאמֹר צֵא אַתָּה וְכָל-הָעָם אֲשֶׁר-בְּרַגְלֶיךָ וְאַֽחֲרֵי-כֵן אֵצֵא וַיֵּצֵא מֵֽעִם-פַּרְעֹה בָּֽחֳרִי-אָֽף׃
And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
בְּיוֹמוֹ תִתֵּן שְׂכָרוֹ וְֽלֹא-תָבוֹא עָלָיו הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ כִּי עָנִי הוּא וְאֵלָיו הוּא נֹשֵׂא אֶת-נַפְשׁוֹ וְלֹֽא-יִקְרָא עָלֶיךָ אֶל-יְהוָה וְהָיָה בְךָ חֵֽטְא׃
At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
וַיַּרְא פִּֽינְחָס בֶּן-אֶלְעָזָר בֶּֽן-אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן וַיָּקָם מִתּוֹךְ הָֽעֵדָה וַיִּקַּח רֹמַח בְּיָדֽוֹ׃
And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;
