μηδὲν κατὰ ἐριθείαν ἢ κενοδοξίαν ἀλλὰ τῇ ταπεινοφροσύνῃ ἀλλήλους ἡγούμενοι ὑπερέχοντας ἑαυτῶν
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each other esteem better than themselves.
ἀλλ' ὡσπερ ἡ ἐκκλησία ὑποτάσσεται τῷ Χριστῷ οὕτως καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ἐν παντί
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ὑποτάσσεσθε ὡς τῷ κυρίῳ
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Πείθεσθε τοῖς ἡγουμένοις ὑμῶν καὶ ὑπείκετε αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἀγρυπνοῦσιν ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν ὡς λόγον ἀποδώσοντες ἵνα μετὰ χαρᾶς τοῦτο ποιῶσιν καὶ μὴ στενάζοντες· ἀλυσιτελὲς γὰρ ὑμῖν τοῦτο
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Ὁμοίως νεώτεροι ὑποτάγητε πρεσβυτέροις· πάντες δὲ ἀλλήλοις ὑποτασσόμενοι τὴν ταπεινοφροσύνην ἐγκομβώσασθε ὅτι Ὁ θεὸς ὑπερηφάνοις ἀντιτάσσεται ταπεινοῖς δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
τοῦ ἰδίου οἴκου καλῶς προϊστάμενον τέκνα ἔχοντα ἐν ὑποταγῇ μετὰ πάσης σεμνότητος
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
πάντας τιμήσατε τὴν ἀδελφότητα ἀγαπᾶτε τὸν θεὸν φοβεῖσθε τὸν βασιλέα τιμᾶτε
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Ὑμεῖς γὰρ ἐπ' ἐλευθερίᾳ ἐκλήθητε ἀδελφοί· μόνον μὴ τὴν ἐλευθερίαν εἰς ἀφορμὴν τῇ σαρκί ἀλλὰ διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης δουλεύετε ἀλλήλοις
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
ἵνα καὶ ὑμεῖς ὑποτάσσησθε τοῖς τοιούτοις καὶ παντὶ τῷ συνεργοῦντι καὶ κοπιῶντι
That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth.
וְהַפַּחוֹת הָרִֽאשֹׁנִים אֲשֶׁר-לְפָנַי הִכְבִּידוּ עַל-הָעָם וַיִּקְחוּ מֵהֶם בְּלֶחֶם וָיַיִן אַחַר כֶּֽסֶף-שְׁקָלִים אַרְבָּעִים גַּם נַֽעֲרֵיהֶם שָֽׁלְטוּ עַל-הָעָם וַֽאֲנִי לֹֽא-עָשִׂיתִי כֵן מִפְּנֵי יִרְאַת אֱלֹהִֽים׃
But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
יְרָֽא-אֶת-יְהוָה בְּנִי וָמֶלֶךְ עִם-שׁוֹנִים אַל-תִּתְעָרָֽב׃
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
Πᾶσα ψυχὴ ἐξουσίαις ὑπερεχούσαις ὑποτασσέσθω οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἐξουσία εἰ μὴ ἀπὸ θεοῦ αἱ δὲ οὖσαι ἐξουσίαι ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ τεταγμέναι εἰσίν·
Let every be unto soul subject the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
וְעַתָּה יְהִי פַֽחַד-יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם שִׁמְרוּ וַֽעֲשׂוּ כִּֽי-אֵין עִם-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ עַוְלָה וּמַשֹּׂא פָנִים וּמִקַּח-שֹֽׁחַד׃
Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
ταύτας οὖν ἔχοντες τὰς ἐπαγγελίας ἀγαπητοί καθαρίσωμεν ἑαυτοὺς ἀπὸ παντὸς μολυσμοῦ σαρκὸς καὶ πνεύματος ἐπιτελοῦντες ἁγιωσύνην ἐν φόβῳ θεοῦ
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
וְכָל-הַשָּׂרִים וְהַגִּבֹּרִים וְגַם כָּל-בְּנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִיד נָתְנוּ יָד תַּחַת שְׁלֹמֹה הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
Ὑποτάγητε οὖν πάσῃ ἀνθρωπίνῃ κτίσει διὰ τὸν κύριον εἴτε βασιλεῖ ὡς ὑπερέχοντι
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
(ויאמר) וָאוֹמַר לֹא-טוֹב הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר-אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים הֲלוֹא בְּיִרְאַת אֱלֹהֵינוּ תֵּלֵכוּ מֵֽחֶרְפַּת הַגּוֹיִם אֽוֹיְבֵֽינוּ׃
Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה שׁוּבִי אֶל-גְּבִרְתֵּךְ וְהִתְעַנִּי תַּחַת יָדֶֽיהָ׃
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
