וַיְבָרֶךְ עֶזְרָא אֶת-יְהוָה הָֽאֱלֹהִים הַגָּדוֹל וַיַּֽעֲנוּ כָל-הָעָם אָמֵן׀ אָמֵן בְּמֹעַל יְדֵיהֶם וַיִּקְּדוּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֻּ לַֽיהוָה אַפַּיִם אָֽרְצָה׃
And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
וַיְמָֽאֲנוּ לִשְׁמֹעַ וְלֹֽא-זָכְרוּ נִפְלְאֹתֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתָ עִמָּהֶם וַיַּקְשׁוּ אֶת-עָרְפָּם וַיִּתְּנוּ-רֹאשׁ לָשׁוּב לְעַבְדֻתָם בְּמִרְיָם וְאַתָּה אֱלוֹהַּ סְלִיחוֹת חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם אֶֽרֶךְ-אַפַּיִם וְרַב-(וחסד) חֶסֶד וְלֹא עֲזַבְתָּֽם׃
And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.
מִנִּשְׁמַת אֱלוֹהַ יֹאבֵדוּ וּמֵרוּחַ אַפּוֹ יִכְלֽוּ׃
By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
הַמַּעְתִּיק הָרִים וְלֹא יָדָעוּ אֲשֶׁר הֲפָכָם בְּאַפּֽוֹ׃
Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
אֱלוֹהַּ לֹא-יָשִׁיב אַפּוֹ (תחתו) תַּחְתָּיו שָׁחֲחוּ עֹזְרֵי רָֽהַב׃
If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
מִי יִתֵּן׀ בִּשְׁאוֹל תַּצְפִּנֵנִי תַּסְתִּירֵנִי עַד-שׁוּב אַפֶּךָ תָּשִׁית לִי חֹק וְתִזְכְּרֵֽנִי׃
O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
אַפּוֹ טָרַף׀ וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֵנִי חָרַק עָלַי בְּשִׁנָּיו צָרִי׀ יִלְטֹשׁ עֵינָיו לִֽי׃
He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
טֹֽרֵף נַפְשׁוֹ בְּאַפּוֹ הַֽלְמַעַנְךָ תֵּעָזַב אָרֶץ וְיֶעְתַּק-צוּר מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃
He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
וַיַּחַר עָלַי אַפּוֹ וַיַּחְשְׁבֵנִי לוֹ כְצָרָֽיו׃
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
יְהִי׀ לְמַלֵּא בִטְנוֹ יְֽשַׁלַּח-בּוֹ חֲרוֹן אַפּוֹ וְיַמְטֵר עָלֵימוֹ בִּלְחוּמֽוֹ׃
When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
יִגֶל יְבוּל בֵּיתוֹ נִגָּרוֹת בְּיוֹם אַפּֽוֹ׃
The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
כַּמָּה׀ נֵר-רְשָׁעִים יִדְעָךְ וְיָבֹא עָלֵימוֹ אֵידָם חֲבָלִים יְחַלֵּק בְּאַפּֽוֹ׃
How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.
כִּֽי-כָל-עוֹד נִשְׁמָתִי בִי וְרוּחַ אֱלוֹהַּ בְּאַפִּֽי׃
All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
וַיִּחַר אַף׀ אֱלִיהוּא בֶן-בַּרַכְאֵל הַבּוּזִי מִמִּשְׁפַּחַת רָם בְּאִיּוֹב חָרָה אַפּוֹ עַֽל-צַדְּקוֹ נַפְשׁוֹ מֵאֱלֹהִֽים׃
Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
וּבִשְׁלֹשֶׁת רֵעָיו חָרָה אַפּוֹ עַל אֲשֶׁר לֹא-מָצְאוּ מַעֲנֶה וַיַּרְשִׁיעוּ אֶת-אִיּֽוֹב׃
Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
וַיַּרְא אֱלִיהוּא כִּי אֵין מַעֲנֶה בְּפִי שְׁלֹשֶׁת הָאֲנָשִׁים וַיִּחַר אַפּֽוֹ׃
When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
וְעַתָּה כִּי-אַיִן פָּקַד אַפּוֹ וְלֹֽא-יָדַע בַּפַּשׁ מְאֹֽד׃
But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
וְֽחַנְפֵי-לֵב יָשִׂימוּ אָף לֹא יְשַׁוְּעוּ כִּי אֲסָרָֽם׃
But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
הָפֵץ עֶבְרוֹת אַפֶּךָ וּרְאֵה כָל-גֵּאֶה וְהַשְׁפִּילֵֽהוּ׃
Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
בְּעֵינָיו יִקָּחֶנּוּ בְּמֽוֹקְשִׁים יִנְקָב-אָֽף׃
He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
הֲתָשִׂים אַגְמֹן בְּאַפּוֹ וּבְחוֹחַ תִּקֹּב לֶֽחֱיוֹ׃
Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
וַיְהִי אַחַר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֶל-אִיּוֹב וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-אֱלִיפַז הַתֵּֽימָנִי חָרָה אַפִּי בְךָ וּבִשְׁנֵי רֵעֶיךָ כִּי לֹא דִבַּרְתֶּם אֵלַי נְכוֹנָה כְּעַבְדִּי אִיּֽוֹב׃
And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
אָז יְדַבֵּר אֵלֵימוֹ בְאַפּוֹ וּֽבַחֲרוֹנוֹ יְבַהֲלֵֽמוֹ׃
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
נַשְּׁקוּ-בַר פֶּן-יֶאֱנַף׀ וְתֹאבְדוּ דֶרֶךְ כִּֽי-יִבְעַר כִּמְעַט אַפּוֹ אַשְׁרֵי כָּל-חוֹסֵי בֽוֹ׃
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
יְֽהוָה אַל-בְּאַפְּךָ תוֹכִיחֵנִי וְֽאַל-בַּחֲמָתְךָ תְיַסְּרֵֽנִי׃
O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
קוּמָה יְהוָה׀ בְּאַפֶּךָ הִנָּשֵׂא בְּעַבְרוֹת צוֹרְרָי וְעוּרָה אֵלַי מִשְׁפָּט צִוִּֽיתָ׃
Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
רָשָׁע כְּגֹבַהּ אַפּוֹ בַּל-יִדְרֹשׁ אֵין אֱלֹהִים כָּל-מְזִמּוֹתָֽיו׃
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
עָלָה עָשָׁן׀ בְּאַפּוֹ וְאֵשׁ-מִפִּיו תֹּאכֵל גֶּחָלִים בָּעֲרוּ מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
וַיֵּרָאוּ׀ אֲפִיקֵי מַיִם וַֽיִּגָּלוּ מוֹסְדוֹת תֵּבֵל מִגַּעֲרָתְךָ יְהוָה מִנִּשְׁמַת רוּחַ אַפֶּֽךָ׃
Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
תְּשִׁיתֵמוֹ׀ כְּתַנּוּר אֵשׁ לְעֵת פָּנֶיךָ יְהוָה בְּאַפּוֹ יְבַלְּעֵם וְֽתֹאכְלֵם אֵֽשׁ׃
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
אַל-תַּסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ׀ מִמֶּנִּי אַֽל-תַּט-בְּאַף עַבְדֶּךָ עֶזְרָתִי הָיִיתָ אַֽל-תִּטְּשֵׁנִי וְאַל-תַּֽעַזְבֵנִי אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעִֽי׃
Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
כִּי רֶגַע׀ בְּאַפּוֹ חַיִּים בִּרְצוֹנוֹ בָּעֶרֶב יָלִין בֶּכִי וְלַבֹּקֶר רִנָּֽה׃
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
הֶרֶף מֵאַף וַעֲזֹב חֵמָה אַל-תִּתְחַר אַךְ-לְהָרֵֽעַ׃
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
מִקּוֹל אוֹיֵב מִפְּנֵי עָקַת רָשָׁע כִּי-יָמִיטוּ עָלַי אָוֶן וּבְאַף יִשְׂטְמֽוּנִי׃
Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
עַל-אָוֶן פַּלֶּט-לָמוֹ בְּאַף עַמִּים׀ הוֹרֵד אֱלֹהִֽים׃
Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
שְׁפָךְ-עֲלֵיהֶם זַעְמֶךָ וַחֲרוֹן אַפְּךָ יַשִּׂיגֵֽם׃
Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.
לָמָה אֱלֹהִים זָנַחְתָּ לָנֶצַח יֶעְשַׁן אַפְּךָ בְּצֹאן מַרְעִיתֶֽךָ׃
O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?
אַתָּה׀ נוֹרָא אַתָּה וּמִֽי-יַעֲמֹד לְפָנֶיךָ מֵאָז אַפֶּֽךָ׃
Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
הֲשָׁכַח חַנּוֹת אֵל אִם-קָפַץ בְּאַף רַחֲמָיו סֶֽלָה׃
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
לָכֵן׀ שָׁמַע יְהוָה וַֽיִּתְעַבָּר וְאֵשׁ נִשְּׂקָה בְיַעֲקֹב וְגַם-אַף עָלָה בְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
וְאַף אֱלֹהִים׀ עָלָה בָהֶם וַֽיַּהֲרֹג בְּמִשְׁמַנֵּיהֶם וּבַחוּרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הִכְרִֽיעַ׃
The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
וְהוּא רַחוּם׀ יְכַפֵּר עָוֹן וְֽלֹא-יַשְׁחִית וְהִרְבָּה לְהָשִׁיב אַפּוֹ וְלֹֽא-יָעִיר כָּל-חֲמָתֽוֹ׃
But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many time a turned away, he his anger and did not stir up all his wrath.
יְשַׁלַּח-בָּם׀ חֲרוֹן אַפּוֹ עֶבְרָה וָזַעַם וְצָרָה מִשְׁלַחַת מַלְאֲכֵי רָעִֽים׃
He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.
יְפַלֵּס נָתִיב לְאַפּוֹ לֹא-חָשַׂךְ מִמָּוֶת נַפְשָׁם וְחַיָּתָם לַדֶּבֶר הִסְגִּֽיר׃
He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
אָסַפְתָּ כָל-עֶבְרָתֶךָ הֱשִׁיבוֹתָ מֵחֲרוֹן אַפֶּֽךָ׃
Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
הַלְעוֹלָם תֶּֽאֱנַף-בָּנוּ תִּמְשֹׁךְ אַפְּךָ לְדֹר וָדֹֽר׃
Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
וְאַתָּה אֲדֹנָי אֵל-רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וְרַב-חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶֽת׃
But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
כִּֽי-כָלִינוּ בְאַפֶּךָ וּֽבַחֲמָתְךָ נִבְהָֽלְנוּ׃
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
מִֽי-יוֹדֵעַ עֹז אַפֶּךָ וּכְיִרְאָתְךָ עֶבְרָתֶֽךָ׃
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
אֲשֶׁר-נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי בְאַפִּי אִם-יְבֹאוּן אֶל-מְנוּחָתִֽי׃
Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן יְהוָה אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וְרַב-חָֽסֶד׃
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
וַיִּֽחַר-אַף יְהוָה בְּעַמּוֹ וַיְתָעֵב אֶת-נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
אֲדֹנָי עַל-יְמִֽינְךָ מָחַץ בְּיוֹם-אַפּוֹ מְלָכִֽים׃
The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
אָזְנַיִם לָהֶם וְלֹא יִשְׁמָעוּ אַף לָהֶם וְלֹא יְרִיחֽוּן׃
They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
אֲזַי חַיִּים בְּלָעוּנוּ בַּחֲרוֹת אַפָּם בָּֽנוּ׃
Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
אִם-אֵלֵךְ׀ בְּקֶרֶב צָרָה תְּחַיֵּנִי עַל אַף אֹיְבַי תִּשְׁלַח יָדֶךָ וְתוֹשִׁיעֵנִי יְמִינֶֽךָ׃
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם יְהוָה אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וּגְדָל-חָֽסֶד׃
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
נֶזֶם זָהָב בְּאַף חֲזִיר אִשָּׁה יָפָה וְסָרַת טָֽעַם׃
As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
קְֽצַר-אַפַּיִם יַעֲשֶׂה אִוֶּלֶת וְאִישׁ מְזִמּוֹת יִשָּׂנֵֽא׃
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם רַב-תְּבוּנָה וּקְצַר-רוּחַ מֵרִים אִוֶּֽלֶת׃
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
מַֽעֲנֶה-רַּךְ יָשִׁיב חֵמָה וּדְבַר-עֶצֶב יַעֲלֶה-אָֽף׃
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
אִישׁ חֵמָה יְגָרֶה מָדוֹן וְאֶרֶך אַפַּיִם יַשְׁקִיט רִֽיב׃
A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
טוֹב אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם מִגִּבּוֹר וּמֹשֵׁל בְּרוּחוֹ מִלֹּכֵד עִֽיר׃
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
שֵׂכֶל אָדָם הֶאֱרִיךְ אַפּוֹ וְתִפאַרְתּוֹ עֲבֹר עַל-פָּֽשַׁע׃
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
מַתָּן בַּסֵּתֶר יִכְפֶּה-אָף וְשֹׁחַד בַּחֵק חֵמָה עַזָּֽה׃
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
אַל-תִּתְרַע אֶת-בַּעַל אָף וְאֶת-אִישׁ חֵמוֹת לֹא תָבֽוֹא׃
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
פֶּן-יִרְאֶה יְהוָה וְרַע בְּעֵינָיו וְהֵשִׁיב מֵעָלָיו אַפּֽוֹ׃
Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
בְּאֹרֶךְ אַפַּיִם יְפֻתֶּה קָצִין וְלָשׁוֹן רַכָּה תִּשְׁבָּר-גָּֽרֶם׃
By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
אַכְזְרִיּוּת חֵמָה וְשֶׁטֶף אָף וּמִי יַעֲמֹד לִפְנֵי קִנְאָֽה׃
Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
אַנְשֵׁי לָצוֹן יָפִיחוּ קִרְיָה וַחֲכָמִים יָשִׁיבוּ אָֽף׃
Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
אִֽישׁ-אַף יְגָרֶה מָדוֹן וּבַעַל חֵמָה רַב-פָּֽשַׁע׃
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
כִּי מִיץ חָלָב יוֹצִיא חֶמְאָה וּֽמִיץ-אַף יוֹצִיא דָם וּמִיץ אַפַּיִם יוֹצִיא רִֽיב׃
Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
צַוָּארֵךְ כְּמִגְדַּל הַשֵּׁן עֵינַיִךְ בְּרֵכוֹת בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן עַל-שַׁעַר בַּת-רַבִּים אַפֵּךְ כְּמִגְדַּל הַלְּבָנוֹן צוֹפֶה פְּנֵי דַמָּֽשֶׂק׃
Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bath-rabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus.
אָמַרְתִּי אֶעֱלֶה בְתָמָר אֹֽחֲזָה בְּסַנְסִנָּיו וְיִֽהְיוּ-נָא שָׁדַיִךְ כְּאֶשְׁכְּלוֹת הַגֶּפֶן וְרֵיחַ אַפֵּךְ כַּתַּפּוּחִֽים׃
I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;
חִדְלוּ לָכֶם מִן-הָאָדָם אֲשֶׁר נְשָׁמָה בְּאַפּוֹ כִּֽי-בַמֶּה נֶחְשָׁב הֽוּא׃
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?
עַל-כֵּן חָרָה אַף-יְהוָה בְּעַמּוֹ וַיֵּט יָדוֹ עָלָיו וַיַּכֵּהוּ וַֽיִּרְגְּזוּ הֶֽהָרִים וַתְּהִי נִבְלָתָם כַּסּוּחָה בְּקֶרֶב חוּצוֹת בְּכָל-זֹאת לֹא-שָׁב אַפּוֹ וְעוֹד יָדוֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃
Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו הִשָּׁמֵר וְהַשְׁקֵט אַל-תִּירָא וּלְבָבְךָ אַל-יֵרַךְ מִשְּׁנֵי זַנְבוֹת הָאוּדִים הָעֲשֵׁנִים הָאֵלֶּה בָּחֳרִי-אַף רְצִין וַאֲרָם וּבֶן-רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃
And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
אֲרָם מִקֶּדֶם וּפְלִשְׁתִּים מֵֽאָחוֹר וַיֹּאכְלוּ אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכָל-פֶּה בְּכָל-זֹאת לֹא-שָׁב אַפּוֹ וְעוֹד יָדוֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃
The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
עַל-כֵּן עַל-בַּחוּרָיו לֹֽא-יִשְׂמַח׀ אֲדֹנָי וְאֶת-יְתֹמָיו וְאֶת-אַלְמְנוֹתָיו לֹא יְרַחֵם כִּי כֻלּוֹ חָנֵף וּמֵרַע וְכָל-פֶּה דֹּבֵר נְבָלָה בְּכָל-זֹאת לֹא-שָׁב אַפּוֹ וְעוֹד יָדוֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
מְנַשֶּׁה אֶת-אֶפְרַיִם וְאֶפְרַיִם אֶת-מְנַשֶּׁה יַחְדָּו הֵמָּה עַל-יְהוּדָה בְּכָל-זֹאת לֹא-שָׁב אַפּוֹ וְעוֹד יָדוֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃
Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
בִּלְתִּי כָרַע תַּחַת אַסִּיר וְתַחַת הֲרוּגִים יִפֹּלוּ בְּכָל-זֹאת לֹא-שָׁב אַפּוֹ וְעוֹד יָדוֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃
Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
הוֹי אַשּׁוּר שֵׁבֶט אַפִּי וּמַטֶּה-הוּא בְיָדָם זַעְמִֽי׃
O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
כִּי-עוֹד מְעַט מִזְעָר וְכָלָה זַעַם וְאַפִּי עַל-תַּבְלִיתָֽם׃
For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
וְאָֽמַרְתָּ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא אוֹדְךָ יְהוָה כִּי אָנַפְתָּ בִּי יָשֹׁב אַפְּךָ וּֽתְנַחֲמֵֽנִי׃
And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
אֲנִי צִוֵּיתִי לִמְקֻדָּשָׁי גַּם קָרָאתִי גִבּוֹרַי לְאַפִּי עַלִּיזֵי גַּאֲוָתִֽי׃
I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
הִנֵּה יוֹם-יְהוָה בָּא אַכְזָרִי וְעֶבְרָה וַחֲרוֹן אָף לָשׂוּם הָאָרֶץ לְשַׁמָּה וְחַטָּאֶיהָ יַשְׁמִיד מִמֶּֽנָּה׃
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
עַל-כֵּן שָׁמַיִם אַרְגִּיז וְתִרְעַשׁ הָאָרֶץ מִמְּקוֹמָהּ בְּעֶבְרַת יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת וּבְיוֹם חֲרוֹן אַפּֽוֹ׃
Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
מַכֶּה עַמִּים בְּעֶבְרָה מַכַּת בִּלְתִּי סָרָה רֹדֶה בָאַף גּוֹיִם מֻרְדָּף בְּלִי חָשָֽׂךְ׃
He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.
הִנֵּה שֵׁם-יְהוָה בָּא מִמֶּרְחָק בֹּעֵר אַפּוֹ וְכֹבֶד מַשָּׂאָה שְׂפָתָיו מָלְאוּ זַעַם וּלְשׁוֹנוֹ כְּאֵשׁ אֹכָֽלֶת׃
Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
וְהִשְׁמִיעַ יְהוָה אֶת-הוֹד קוֹלוֹ וְנַחַת זְרוֹעוֹ יַרְאֶה בְּזַעַף אַף וְלַהַב אֵשׁ אוֹכֵלָה נֶפֶץ וָזֶרֶם וְאֶבֶן בָּרָֽד׃
And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
יַעַן הִתְרַגֶּזְךָ אֵלַי וְשַׁאֲנַנְךָ עָלָה בְאָזְנָי וְשַׂמְתִּי חַחִי בְּאַפֶּךָ וּמִתְגִּי בִּשְׂפָתֶיךָ וַהֲשִׁיבֹתִיךָ בַּדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר-בָּאתָ בָּֽהּ׃
Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
וַיִּשְׁפֹּךְ עָלָיו חֵמָה אַפּוֹ וֶעֱזוּז מִלְחָמָה וַתְּלַהֲטֵהוּ מִסָּבִיב וְלֹא יָדָע וַתִּבְעַר-בּוֹ וְלֹא-יָשִׂים עַל-לֵֽב׃
Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
לְמַעַן שְׁמִי אַאֲרִיךְ אַפִּי וּתְהִלָּתִי אֶחֱטָם-לָךְ לְבִלְתִּי הַכְרִיתֶֽךָ׃
For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
וְהָיוּ מְלָכִים אֹֽמְנַיִךְ וְשָׂרֽוֹתֵיהֶם מֵינִיקֹתַיִךְ אַפַּיִם אֶרֶץ יִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לָךְ וַעֲפַר רַגְלַיִךְ יְלַחֵכוּ וְיָדַעַתְּ כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יֵבֹשׁוּ קוָֹֽי׃
And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
פּוּרָה׀ דָּרַכְתִּי לְבַדִּי וּמֵֽעַמִּים אֵֽין-אִישׁ אִתִּי וְאֶדְרְכֵם בְּאַפִּי וְאֶרְמְסֵם בַּחֲמָתִי וְיֵז נִצְחָם עַל-בְּגָדַי וְכָל-מַלְבּוּשַׁי אֶגְאָֽלְתִּי׃
I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
וְאָבוּס עַמִּים בְּאַפִּי וַאֲשַׁכְּרֵם בַּחֲמָתִי וְאוֹרִיד לָאָרֶץ נִצְחָֽם׃
And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
הָאֹֽמְרִים קְרַב אֵלֶיךָ אַל-תִּגַּשׁ-בִּי כִּי קְדַשְׁתִּיךָ אֵלֶּה עָשָׁן בְּאַפִּי אֵשׁ יֹקֶדֶת כָּל-הַיּֽוֹם׃
Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
כִּֽי-הִנֵּה יְהוָה בָּאֵשׁ יָבוֹא וְכַסּוּפָה מַרְכְּבֹתָיו לְהָשִׁיב בְּחֵמָה אַפּוֹ וְגַעֲרָתוֹ בְּלַהֲבֵי-אֵֽשׁ׃
For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
וַתֹּֽאמְרִי כִּי נִקֵּיתִי אַךְ שָׁב אַפּוֹ מִמֶּנִּי הִנְנִי נִשְׁפָּט אוֹתָךְ עַל-אָמְרֵךְ לֹא חָטָֽאתִי׃
Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
