ἐγενόμην τοῖς ἀσθενέσιν ὡς ἀσθενής ἵνα τοὺς ἀσθενεῖς κερδήσω· τοῖς πᾶσιν γέγονα τὰ πάντα ἵνα πάντως τινὰς σώσω
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
Ἀλλὰ τότε μὲν οὐκ εἰδότες θεὸν ἐδουλεύσατε τοῖς μὴ φύσει οὖσιν θεοῖς·
Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
ὃ οὐκ ἔστιν ἄλλο εἰ μή τινές εἰσιν οἱ ταράσσοντες ὑμᾶς καὶ θέλοντες μεταστρέψαι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ Χριστοῦ
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
וּכְכַלּוֹת אֵלֶּה נִגְּשׁוּ אֵלַי הַשָּׂרִים לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-נִבְדְּלוּ הָעָם יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם מֵֽעַמֵּי הָֽאֲרָצוֹת כְּתוֹעֲבֹֽתֵיהֶם לַכְּנַֽעֲנִי הַֽחִתִּי הַפְּרִזִּי הַיְבוּסִי הָֽעַמֹּנִי הַמֹּאָבִי הַמִּצְרִי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִֽי׃
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
Εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς κηρύσσεται ὅτι ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγήγερται πῶς λέγουσίν τινες ἐν ὑμῖν ὅτι ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἔστιν
Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
Ὅλως ἀκούεται ἐν ὑμῖν πορνεία καὶ τοιαύτη πορνεία ἥτις οὐδὲ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὀνομάζεται ὥστε γυναῖκά τινα τοῦ πατρὸς ἔχειν
It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
Οἶδά σου τὰ ἔργα ὅτι οὔτε ψυχρὸς εἶ οὔτε ζεστός ὄφελον ψυχρὸς εἴης ἢ ζεστός
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
בַּיָּמִים הָהֵמָּה רָאִיתִי בִֽיהוּדָה׀ דֹּֽרְכִֽים-גִּתּוֹת׀ בַּשַּׁבָּת וּמְבִיאִים הָֽעֲרֵמוֹת וְֽעֹמְסִים עַל-הַֽחֲמֹרִים וְאַף-יַיִן עֲנָבִים וּתְאֵנִים וְכָל-מַשָּׂא וּמְבִיאִים יְרֽוּשָׁלִַם בְּיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת וָֽאָעִיד בְּיוֹם מִכְרָם צָֽיִד׃
In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought in into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.
οἱ γὰρ τοιοῦτοι ψευδαπόστολοι ἐργάται δόλιοι μετασχηματιζόμενοι εἰς ἀποστόλους Χριστοῦ
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
Ἄφρον σὺ ὃ σπείρεις οὐ ζῳοποιεῖται ἐὰν μὴ ἀποθάνῃ·
Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
וְהִנֵּה אִישׁ מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּא וַיַּקְרֵב אֶל-אֶחָיו אֶת-הַמִּדְיָנִית לְעֵינֵי מֹשֶׁה וּלְעֵינֵי כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהֵמָּה בֹכִים פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃
And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Οἶδα τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ τὸν κόπον σου καὶ τὴν ὑπομονήν σου καὶ ὅτι οὐ δύνῃ βαστάσαι κακούς καὶ ἐπειράσω τοὺς φάσκοντας εἶναι ἀποστόλους καὶ οὐκ εἰσίν καὶ εὗρες αὐτοὺς ψευδεῖς
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
διὰ τοῦτο κἀγὼ μηκέτι στέγων ἔπεμψα εἰς τὸ γνῶναι τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶν μήπως ἐπείρασεν ὑμᾶς ὁ πειράζων καὶ εἰς κενὸν γένηται ὁ κόπος ἡμῶν
For cause, this when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
Ἐμνήσθησαν δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι γεγραμμένον ἐστίν Ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου κατέφαγεν με
And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten up. me
πρὸς ἐντροπὴν ὑμῖν λέγω οὕτως οὐκ ἐστὶν ἐν ὑμῖν σοφὸς οὐδὲ εἷς ὃς δυνήσεται διακρῖναι ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ;
I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
Ἴδε ἐγὼ Παῦλος λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν περιτέμνησθε Χριστὸς ὑμᾶς οὐδὲν ὠφελήσει
Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι τὰ σώματα ὑμῶν μέλη Χριστοῦ ἐστιν ἄρας οὖν τὰ μέλη τοῦ Χριστοῦ ποιήσω πόρνης μέλη; μὴ γένοιτο
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
ἀλλ' ἔχω κατὰ σοῦ ὀλίγα ὅτι ἐᾷς τὴν γυναῖκα Ἰεζάβηλ τὴν λέγουσαν ἑαυτὴν προφῆτιν διδάσκειν καὶ πλανᾶσθαι ἐμοὺς δούλους πορνεῦσαι καὶ εἰδωλόθυτα φαγεῖν
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
Ὦ ἀνόητοι Γαλάται τίς ὑμᾶς ἐβάσκανεν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι οἷς κατ' ὀφθαλμοὺς Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς προεγράφη ἐν ὑμῖν ἐσταυρωμένος
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
