And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer. the
ἤρξαντο δὲ κατηγορεῖν αὐτοῦ λέγοντες Τοῦτον εὕρομεν διαστρέφοντα τὸ ἔθνος καὶ κωλύοντα Καίσαρι φόρους διδόναι λέγοντα ἑαυτὸν Χριστὸν βασιλέα εἶναι
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
εὑρόντες γὰρ τὸν ἄνδρα τοῦτον λοιμὸν καὶ κινοῦντα στάσιν πᾶσιν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις τοῖς κατὰ τὴν οἰκουμένην πρωτοστάτην τε τῆς τῶν Ναζωραίων αἱρέσεως
For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the of sect the Nazarenes:
אַֽל-תִּתְּנֵנִי בְּנֶפֶשׁ צָרָי כִּי קָֽמוּ-בִי עֵֽדֵי-שֶׁקֶר וִיפֵחַ חָמָֽס׃
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
וַיֹּאמֶר הָמָן לַמֶּלֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ יֶשְׁנוֹ עַם-אֶחָד מְפֻזָּר וּמְפֹרָד בֵּין הָֽעַמִּים בְּכֹל מְדִינוֹת מַלְכוּתֶךָ וְדָֽתֵיהֶם שֹׁנוֹת מִכָּל-עָם וְאֶת-דָּתֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ אֵינָם עֹשִׂים וְלַמֶּלֶךְ אֵין-שׁוֶֹה לְהַנִּיחָֽם׃
And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
κράζοντες Ἄνδρες Ἰσραηλῖται βοηθεῖτε· οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ κατὰ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ τοῦ νόμου καὶ τοῦ τόπου τούτου πάντας πανταχοῦ διδάσκων ἔτι τε καὶ Ἕλληνας εἰσήγαγεν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν καὶ κεκοίνωκεν τὸν ἅγιον τόπον τοῦτον
Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
καὶ οὐχ εὗρον καὶ πολλῶν ψευδομαρτύρων προσελθόντων οὐχ εὗρον· ὕστερον δὲ προσελθόντες δύο ψευδομάρτυρες
But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
דִּי יְבַקַּר בִּֽסְפַר-דָּכְרָנַיָּא דִּי אֲבָֽהָתָךְ וּתְהַשְׁכַּח בִּסְפַר דָּכְרָֽנַיָּא וְתִנְדַּע דִּי קִרְיְתָא דָךְ קִרְיָא מָֽרָדָא וּֽמְהַנְזְקַת מַלְכִין וּמְדִנָן וְאֶשְׁתַּדּוּר עָֽבְדִין בְּגַוַּהּ מִן-יוֹמָת עָֽלְמָא עַל-דְּנָה קִרְיְתָא דָךְ הָֽחָרְבַֽת׃
That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
Μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ διώξωσιν καὶ εἴπωσιν πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθ' ὑμῶν ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
καὶ κατηγόρουν αὐτοῦ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς πολλά· αὐτὸς δὲ οὐδὲν ἀπεκρίνατο.
And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
יְקוּמוּן עֵדֵי חָמָס אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יָדַעְתִּי יִשְׁאָלֽוּנִי׃
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
εἰ ὀνειδίζεσθε ἐν ὀνόματι Χριστοῦ μακάριοι ὅτι τὸ τῆς δόξης καὶ τὸ τοῦ θεοῦ πνεῦμα ἐφ' ὑμᾶς ἀναπαύεται κατὰ μὲν αὐτοὺς βλασφημεῖται κατὰ δὲ ὑμᾶς δοξάζεται
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
