He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.
יְהוָה מֵמִית וּמְחַיֶּה מוֹרִיד שְׁאוֹל וַיָּֽעַל׃
The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
λέγω ὑμῖν κατέβη οὗτος δεδικαιωμένος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἢ ἐκεῖνος· ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὑψῶν ἑαυτὸν ταπεινωθήσεται ὁ δὲ ταπεινῶν ἑαυτὸν ὑψωθήσεται
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
הַֽמַּשְׁפִּילִי לִרְאוֹת בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָֽרֶץ׃
Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
כִּֽי-מִבֵּית הָסוּרִים יָצָא לִמְלֹךְ כִּי גַּם בְּמַלְכוּתוֹ נוֹלַד רָֽשׁ׃
For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.
לָשׂוּם שְׁפָלִים לְמָרוֹם וְקֹֽדְרִים שָׂגְבוּ יֶֽשַׁע׃
To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
קֶשֶׁת גִּבֹּרִים חַתִּים וְנִכְשָׁלִים אָזְרוּ חָֽיִל׃
The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
Καυχάσθω δὲ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὁ ταπεινὸς ἐν τῷ ὕψει αὐτοῦ
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא אָקִים אֶת-סֻכַּת דָּוִיד הַנֹּפֶלֶת וְגָדַרְתִּי אֶת-פִּרְצֵיהֶן וַהֲרִֽסֹתָיו אָקִים וּבְנִיתִיהָ כִּימֵי עוֹלָֽם׃
In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
יָרֹעַ כַּבִּירִים לֹא-חֵקֶר וַיַּעֲמֵד אֲחֵרִים תַּחְתָּֽם׃
He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τέκτων ὁ υἱὸς Μαρίας ἀδελφὸς δὲ Ἰακώβου καὶ Ἰωσῆ καὶ Ἰούδα καὶ Σίμωνος καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ ὧδε πρὸς ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῷ
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
