וְעַתָּה אִם-שָׁמוֹעַ תִּשְׁמְעוּ בְּקֹלִי וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת-בְּרִיתִי וִֽהְיִיתֶם לִי סְגֻלָּה מִכָּל-הָעַמִּים כִּי-לִי כָּל-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν αὔριον ἐξελθὼν ἐκβαλὼν δύο δηνάρια ἔδωκεν τῷ πανδοχεῖ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἐπιμελήθητι αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅ τι ἂν προσδαπανήσῃς ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ ἐπανέρχεσθαί με ἀποδώσω σοι
And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν ἑνὶ αὐτῶν Ἑταῖρε οὐκ ἀδικῶ σε· οὐχὶ δηναρίου συνεφώνησάς μοι
But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
וּבִשְׁמוֹנֶה שָׁנִים לְמָלְכוֹ וְהוּא עוֹדֶנּוּ נַעַר הֵחֵל לִדְרוֹשׁ לֵֽאלֹהֵי דָּוִיד אָבִיו וּבִשְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה הֵחֵל לְטַהֵר אֶת-יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלִַם מִן-הַבָּמוֹת וְהָאֲשֵׁרִים וְהַפְּסִלִים וְהַמַּסֵּכֽוֹת׃
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
קְרַב אַתָּה וּֽשֲׁמָע אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר יֹאמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְאַתְּ׀ תְּדַבֵּר אֵלֵינוּ אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֵלֶיךָ וְשָׁמַעְנוּ וְעָשִֽׂינוּ׃
Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
ἔσται γὰρ μέγας ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ οἶνον καὶ σίκερα οὐ μὴ πίῃ καὶ πνεύματος ἁγίου πλησθήσεται ἔτι ἐκ κοιλίας μητρὸς αὐτοῦ
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל-יִשַׁי הֲתַמּוּ הַנְּעָרִים וַיֹּאמֶר עוֹד שָׁאַר הַקָּטָן וְהִנֵּה רֹעֶה בַּצֹּאן וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל-יִשַׁי שִׁלְחָה וְקָחֶנּוּ כִּי לֹֽא-נָסֹב עַד-בֹּאוֹ פֹֽה׃
And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
וּזְכֹר אֶת-בּוֹרְאֶיךָ בִּימֵי בְּחוּרֹתֶיךָ עַד אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יָבֹאוּ יְמֵי הָֽרָעָה וְהִגִּיעוּ שָׁנִים אֲשֶׁר תֹּאמַר אֵֽין-לִי בָהֶם חֵֽפֶץ׃
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
וְהַנַּעַר שְׁמוּאֵל הֹלֵךְ וְגָדֵל וָטוֹב גַּם עִם-יְהוָה וְגַם עִם-אֲנָשִֽׁים׃
And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.
וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁלֹמֹה אַתָּה עָשִׂיתָ עִם-עַבְדְּךָ דָוִד אָבִי חֶסֶד גָּדוֹל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר הָלַךְ לְפָנֶיךָ בֶּֽאֱמֶת וּבִצְדָקָה וּבְיִשְׁרַת לֵבָב עִמָּךְ וַתִּשְׁמָר-לוֹ אֶת-הַחֶסֶד הַגָּדוֹל הַזֶּה וַתִּתֶּן-לוֹ בֵן יֹשֵׁב עַל-כִּסְאוֹ כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
וְהָיָה אֲנִי׀ אֵלֵךְ מֵֽאִתָּךְ וְרוּחַ יְהוָה׀ יִֽשָּׂאֲךָ עַל אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-אֵדָע וּבָאתִי לְהַגִּיד לְאַחְאָב וְלֹא יִֽמְצָאֲךָ וַֽהֲרָגָנִי וְעַבְדְּךָ יָרֵא אֶת-יְהוָה מִנְּעֻרָֽי׃
And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
וּשְׁמוּאֵל מְשָׁרֵת אֶת-פְּנֵי יְהוָה נַעַר חָגוּר אֵפוֹד בָּֽד׃
But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.
ἐξελθὼν δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος εὗρεν ἕνα τῶν συνδούλων αὐτοῦ ὃς ὤφειλεν αὐτῷ ἑκατὸν δηνάρια καὶ κρατήσας αὐτὸν ἔπνιγεν λέγων Ἀπόδος μοι ὁ τι ὀφείλεις
But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
καὶ ἤκουσα φωνὴν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν τεσσάρων ζῴων λέγουσαν Χοῖνιξ σίτου δηναρίου καὶ τρεῖς χοίνικες κριθῆς δηναρίου καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον καὶ τὸν οἶνον μὴ ἀδικήσῃς
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
וְהַנַּעַר שְׁמוּאֵל מְשָׁרֵת אֶת-יְהוָה לִפְנֵי עֵלִי וּדְבַר-יְהוָה הָיָה יָקָר בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם אֵין חָזוֹן נִפְרָֽץ׃
And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
וַיֹּסֶף יְהוָה לְהֵֽרָאֹה בְשִׁלֹה כִּֽי-נִגְלָה יְהוָה אֶל-שְׁמוּאֵל בְּשִׁלוֹ בִּדְבַר יְהוָֽה׃
And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
