For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν λέγοντες Διδάσκαλε οἴδαμεν ὅτι ὀρθῶς λέγεις καὶ διδάσκεις καὶ οὐ λαμβάνεις πρόσωπον ἀλλ' ἐπ' ἀληθείας τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ θεοῦ διδάσκεις·
And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither thou acceptest the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
ἤρξαντο δὲ κατηγορεῖν αὐτοῦ λέγοντες Τοῦτον εὕρομεν διαστρέφοντα τὸ ἔθνος καὶ κωλύοντα Καίσαρι φόρους διδόναι λέγοντα ἑαυτὸν Χριστὸν βασιλέα εἶναι
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
οἱ δὲ ἐλθόντες λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Διδάσκαλε οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἀληθὴς εἶ καὶ οὐ μέλει σοι περὶ οὐδενός· οὐ γὰρ βλέπεις εἰς πρόσωπον ἀνθρώπων ἀλλ' ἐπ' ἀληθείας τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ θεοῦ διδάσκεις· ἔξεστιν κῆνσον Καίσαρι δοῦναι ἢ οὔ
And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
Ἐλθόντων δὲ αὐτῶν εἰς Καπερναούμ προσῆλθον οἱ τὰ δίδραχμα λαμβάνοντες τῷ Πέτρῳ καὶ εἶπον Ὁ διδάσκαλος ὑμῶν οὐ τελεῖ τὰ δίδραχμα
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
וַיִּמְלֹךְ דָּוִיד עַל-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיְהִי עֹשֶׂה מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָה לְכָל-עַמּֽוֹ׃
So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
וּמִנִּי שִׂים טְעֵם לְמָא דִֽי-תַֽעַבְדוּן עִם-שָׂבֵי יְהֽוּדָיֵא אִלֵּךְ לְמִבְנֵא בֵּית-אֱלָהָא דֵךְ וּמִנִּכְסֵי מַלְכָּא דִּי מִדַּת עֲבַר נַֽהֲרָה אָסְפַּרְנָא נִפְקְתָא תֶּֽהֱוֵא מִֽתְיַהֲבָא לְגֻבְרַיָּא אִלֵּךְ דִּי-לָא לְבַטָּלָֽא׃
Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expences be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.
בְּצֵאתִי שַׁעַר עֲלֵי-קָרֶת בָּרְחוֹב אָכִין מוֹשָׁבִֽי׃
When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
וּמַלְכִין תַּקִּיפִין הֲווֹ עַל-יְרוּשְׁלֶם וְשַׁלִּיטִין בְּכֹל עֲבַר נַֽהֲרָה וּמִדָּה בְלוֹ וַֽהֲלָךְ מִתְיְהֵב לְהֽוֹן׃
There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
וְיֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר אֹֽמְרִים לָוִינוּ כֶסֶף לְמִדַּת הַמֶּלֶךְ שְׂדֹתֵינוּ וּכְרָמֵֽינוּ׃
There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
וָֽאֹמַר אֲלֵכֶם בָּעֵת הַהִוא לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-אוּכַל לְבַדִּי שְׂאֵת אֶתְכֶֽם׃
And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
וַֽיְהִי מִֽמָּחֳרָת וַיֵּשֶׁב מֹשֶׁה לִשְׁפֹּט אֶת-הָעָם וַיַּֽעֲמֹד הָעָם עַל-מֹשֶׁה מִן-הַבֹּקֶר עַד-הָעָֽרֶב׃
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.
כְּעַן יְדִיעַ לֶֽהֱוֵא לְמַלְכָּא דִּי הֵן קִרְיְתָא דָךְ תִּתְבְּנֵא וְשׁוּרַיָּה יִֽשְׁתַּכְלְלוּן מִנְדָּֽה-בְלוֹ וַֽהֲלָךְ לָא יִנְתְּנוּן וְאַפְּתֹם מַלְכִים תְּהַנְזִֽק׃
Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
וַתָּבֹא אֲרַם דַּמֶּשֶׂק לַעְזֹר לַֽהֲדַדְעֶזֶר מֶלֶךְ צוֹבָה וַיַּךְ דָּוִד בַּֽאֲרָם עֶשְׂרִֽים-וּשְׁנַיִם אֶלֶף אִֽישׁ׃
And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
εἴτε ὁ παρακαλῶν ἐν τῇ παρακλήσει· ὁ μεταδιδοὺς ἐν ἁπλότητι ὁ προϊστάμενος ἐν σπουδῇ ὁ ἐλεῶν ἐν ἱλαρότητι
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
וְהָלַךְ מִדֵּי שָׁנָה בְּשָׁנָה וְסָבַב בֵּֽית-אֵל וְהַגִּלְגָּל וְהַמִּצְפָּה וְשָׁפַט אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵת כָּל-הַמְּקוֹמוֹת הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
And he went from year to year in circuit to Beth-el, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places.
