For ye suffer, if a man bring into bondage, you if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring into bondage: us
οὕτως καὶ ἡμεῖς ὅτε ἦμεν νήπιοι ὑπὸ τὰ στοιχεῖα τοῦ κόσμου ἦμεν δεδουλωμένοι·
Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
νῦν δὲ γνόντες θεόν μᾶλλον δὲ γνωσθέντες ὑπὸ θεοῦ πῶς ἐπιστρέφετε πάλιν ἐπὶ τὰ ἀσθενῆ καὶ πτωχὰ στοιχεῖα οἷς πάλιν ἄνωθεν δουλεύειν θέλετε
But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
τῇ ἐλευθερίᾳ οὖν ᾖ Χριστὸς ἡμᾶς ἠλευθέρωσεν· στήκετε καὶ μὴ πάλιν ζυγῷ δουλείας ἐνέχεσθε
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made free, us and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
גֵּוִי נָתַתִּי לְמַכִּים וּלְחָיַי לְמֹֽרְטִים פָּנַי לֹא הִסְתַּרְתִּי מִכְּלִמּוֹת וָרֹֽק׃
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
οὐχ ὅτι κυριεύομεν ὑμῶν τῆς πίστεως ἀλλὰ συνεργοί ἐσμεν τῆς χαρᾶς ὑμῶν· τῇ γὰρ πίστει ἑστήκατε
Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
τῷ τύπτοντί σε ἐπὶ τὴν σιαγόνα πάρεχε καὶ τὴν ἄλλην καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἴροντός σου τὸ ἱμάτιον καὶ τὸν χιτῶνα μὴ κωλύσῃς
And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
יִתֵּן לְמַכֵּהוּ לֶחִי יִשְׂבַּע בְּחֶרְפָּֽה׃
He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
τὸ γὰρ Ἁγὰρ Σινᾶ ὄρος ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ Ἀραβίᾳ· συστοιχεῖ δὲ τῇ νῦν Ἰερουσαλήμ δουλεύει δὲ μετὰ τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς
For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which is, now and is in bondage with her children.
ὅσοι θέλουσιν εὐπροσωπῆσαι ἐν σαρκί οὗτοι ἀναγκάζουσιν ὑμᾶς περιτέμνεσθαι μόνον ἵνα μὴ τῷ σταυρῷ τοῦ Χριστοῦ διώκωνται
As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
ἄχρι τῆς ἄρτι ὥρας καὶ πεινῶμεν καὶ διψῶμεν καὶ γυμνητεύομεν καὶ κολαφιζόμεθα καὶ ἀστατοῦμεν
Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
ἐγὼ πέποιθα εἰς ὑμᾶς ἐν κυρίῳ ὅτι οὐδὲν ἄλλο φρονήσετε· ὁ δὲ ταράσσων ὑμᾶς βαστάσει τὸ κρίμα ὅστις ἂν ᾖ
I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
ὧν τὸ τέλος ἀπώλεια ὧν ὁ θεὸς ἡ κοιλία καὶ ἡ δόξα ἐν τῇ αἰσχύνῃ αὐτῶν οἱ τὰ ἐπίγεια φρονοῦντες
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
οὔτε γάρ ποτε ἐν λόγῳ κολακείας ἐγενήθημεν καθὼς οἴδατε οὔτε ἐν προφάσει πλεονεξίας θεὸς μάρτυς
For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
Παρακαλῶ δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀδελφοί σκοπεῖν τοὺς τὰς διχοστασίας καὶ τὰ σκάνδαλα παρὰ τὴν διδαχὴν ἣν ὑμεῖς ἐμάθετε ποιοῦντας καὶ ἐκκλίνατε ἀπ' αὐτῶν·
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
