καὶ ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἀπαντήσει ὑμῖν ἄνθρωπος κεράμιον ὕδατος βαστάζων· ἀκολουθήσατε αὐτῷ
And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
ὁ μὲν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὑπάγει καθὼς γέγραπται περὶ αὐτοῦ οὐαὶ δὲ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι' οὗ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται· καλὸν ἦν αὐτῷ εἰ οὐκ ἐγεννήθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος
The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
δραμὼν δέ εἶς καὶ γεμίσας σπόγγον ὄξους περιθεὶς τε καλάμῳ ἐπότιζεν αὐτόν λέγων Ἄφετε ἴδωμεν εἰ ἔρχεται Ἠλίας καθελεῖν αὐτόν
And one ran and filled full a spunge of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take down. him
ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἀφεὶς φωνὴν μεγάλην ἐξέπνευσεν
And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
ἀλλ' ὑπάγετε εἴπατε τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ τῷ Πέτρῳ ὅτι Προάγει ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν· ἐκεῖ αὐτὸν ὄψεσθε καθὼς εἶπεν ὑμῖν
But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτῷ εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ὑπαγε ὀπίσω μου Σατανᾶ· Γέγραπται γὰρ προσκυνήσεις Κύριον τὸν θεόν σου καὶ αὐτῷ μόνῳ λατρεύσεις
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
καὶ ἐπιστὰς ἐπάνω αὐτῆς ἐπετίμησεν τῷ πυρετῷ καὶ ἀφῆκεν αὐτήν· παραχρῆμα δὲ ἀναστᾶσα διηκόνει αὐτοῖς
And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
καὶ καταγαγόντες τὰ πλοῖα ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἀφέντες ἅπαντα ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ
And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
καὶ ἰδὼν τὴν πίστιν αὐτῶν εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἄνθρωπε ἀφέωνταί σοι αἱ ἁμαρτίαι σου
And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
καὶ ἤρξαντο διαλογίζεσθαι οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι λέγοντες Τίς ἐστιν οὗτος ὃς λαλεῖ βλασφημίας τίς δύναται ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας εἰ μὴ μόνος ὁ θεός
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
τί ἐστιν εὐκοπώτερον εἰπεῖν Ἀφέωνταί σοι αἱ ἁμαρτίαι σου ἢ εἰπεῖν Ἔγειραι καὶ περιπάτει
Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
ἵνα δὲ εἰδῆτε ὅτι ἐξουσίαν ἔχει ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας εἶπεν τῷ παραλελυμένῳ Σοὶ λέγω ἔγειραι καὶ ἄρας τὸ κλινίδιόν σου πορεύου εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
ἤ πῶς δύνασαι λέγειν τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου Ἀδελφέ ἄφες ἐκβάλω τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ σου αὐτὸς τὴν ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ σοῦ δοκὸν οὐ βλέπων ὑποκριτά ἔκβαλε πρῶτον τὴν δοκὸν ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ σοῦ καὶ τότε διαβλέψεις ἐκβαλεῖν τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου
Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
οὗ χάριν λέγω σοι ἀφέωνται αἱ ἁμαρτίαι αὐτῆς αἱ πολλαί ὅτι ἠγάπησεν πολύ· ᾧ δὲ ὀλίγον ἀφίεται ὀλίγον ἀγαπᾷ
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
καὶ ἤρξαντο οἱ συνανακείμενοι λέγειν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς Τίς οὗτός ἐστιν ὃς καὶ ἁμαρτίας ἀφίησιν
And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
ὅτι θυγάτηρ μονογενὴς ἦν αὐτῷ ὡς ἐτῶν δώδεκα καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπέθνῃσκεν Ἐν δὲ τῷ ὑπάγειν αὐτὸν οἱ ὄχλοι συνέπνιγον αὐτόν
For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
εἰσελθὼν δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν οὐκ ἀφῆκεν εἰσελθεῖν οὐδένα εἰ μὴ Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην καὶ τὸν πατέρα τῆς παιδὸς καὶ τὴν μητέρα
And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἄφες τοὺς νεκροὺς θάψαι τοὺς ἑαυτῶν νεκρούς σὺ δὲ ἀπελθὼν διάγγελλε τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ
Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
ὑπάγετε· ἰδού ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω ὑμᾶς ὡς ἄρνας ἐν μέσῳ λύκων
Go your ways: behold, I send forth you as lambs among wolves.
ὑπολαβὼν δέ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν Ἄνθρωπός τις κατέβαινεν ἀπὸ Ἰερουσαλὴμ εἰς Ἰεριχὼ καὶ λῃσταῖς περιέπεσεν οἳ καὶ ἐκδύσαντες αὐτὸν καὶ πληγὰς ἐπιθέντες ἀπῆλθον ἀφέντες ἡμιθανῆ τυγχάνοντα
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped of his raiment, him and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμῶν καὶ γὰρ αὐτοὶ ἀφίεμεν παντὶ ὀφείλοντι ἡμῖν· καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειρασμόν ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ πονηροῦ
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
ἀλλ' οὐαὶ ὑμῖν τοῖς Φαρισαίοις ὅτι ἀποδεκατοῦτε τὸ ἡδύοσμον καὶ τὸ πήγανον καὶ πᾶν λάχανον καὶ παρέρχεσθε τὴν κρίσιν καὶ τὴν ἀγάπην τοῦ θεοῦ· ταῦτα ἔδει ποιῆσαι κἀκεῖνα μὴ ἀφιέναι
But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not the to leave undone. other
καὶ πᾶς ὃς ἐρεῖ λόγον εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ· τῷ δὲ εἰς τὸ ἅγιον πνεῦμα βλασφημήσαντι οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
τοῦτο δὲ γινώσκετε ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ ὥρᾳ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται ἐγρηγόρησεν ἂν καὶ οὐκ ἄν ἀφῆκεν διορυγῆναι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ
And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
ὡς γὰρ ὑπάγεις μετὰ τοῦ ἀντιδίκου σου ἐπ' ἄρχοντα ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ δὸς ἐργασίαν ἀπηλλάχθαι ἀπ' αὐτοῦ μήποτε κατασύρῃ σε πρὸς τὸν κριτήν καὶ ὁ κριτής σε παραδῷ τῷ πράκτορι καὶ ὁ πράκτωρ σε βάλλῃ εἰς φυλακήν
When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς λέγει αὐτῷ Κύριε ἄφες αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦτο τὸ ἔτος ἕως ὅτου σκάψω περὶ αὐτὴν καὶ βάλω κόπριαν
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
ἰδού ἀφίεται ὑμῖν ὁ οἶκος ὑμῶν ἔρημος· ἀμὴν δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ με ἴδητέ ἕως ἄν ἥξῃ ὅτε εἴπητε Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου.
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἐὰν δὲ ἁμάρτῃ εἰς σὲ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐπιτίμησον αὐτῷ καὶ ἐὰν μετανοήσῃ ἄφες αὐτῷ
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
καὶ ἐὰν ἑπτάκις τῆς ἡμέρας ἁμάρτη εἰς σὲ καὶ ἑπτάκις τῆς ἡμέρας ἐπιστρέψῃ ἐπὶ σὲ λέγων Μετανοῶ ἀφήσεις αὐτῷ
And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
καὶ ἰδὼν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Πορευθέντες ἐπιδείξατε ἑαυτοὺς τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ὑπάγειν αὐτοὺς ἐκαθαρίσθησαν
And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
λέγω ὑμῖν ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ ἔσονται δύο ἐπὶ κλίνης μιᾶς ὁ εἷς παραληφθήσεται καὶ ὁ ἕτερος ἀφεθήσεται·
I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
δύο ἔσονται ἀλήθουσαι ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό μία παραληφθήσεται καὶ ἡ ἑτέρα ἀφεθήσεται
Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
δύο ἔσονται ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ· ὁ εἷς παραληφθήσεται καὶ ὁ ἕτερος ἀφεθήσεται.
Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὰ εἶπεν Ἄφετε τὰ παιδία ἔρχεσθαι πρός με καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτά τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Εἶπεν δὲ ὁ Πέτρος Ἰδού ἡμεῖς ἀφηκαμεν πάντα καὶ ἠκολουθήσαμέν σοι
Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδείς ἐστιν ὃς ἀφῆκεν οἰκίαν ἢ γονεῖς ἢ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ γυναῖκα ἢ τέκνα ἕνεκεν τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
εἰπὼν Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κατέναντι κώμην ἐν ᾗ εἰσπορευόμενοι εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον ἐφ' ὃν οὐδεὶς πώποτε ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν λύσαντες αὐτὸν ἀγάγετε
Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.
καὶ ἐδαφιοῦσίν σε καὶ τὰ τέκνα σου ἐν σοί καὶ οὐκ ἀφήσουσιν ἐν σοί λίθον ἐπὶ λίθῳ· ἀνθ ὧν οὐκ ἔγνως τὸν καιρὸν τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς σου
And shall lay even with the ground, thee and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Ταῦτα ἃ θεωρεῖτε ἐλεύσονται ἡμέραι ἐν αἷς οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται λίθος ἐπὶ λίθῳ ὃς οὐ καταλυθήσεται
As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἔλεγεν Πάτερ ἄφες αὐτοῖς οὐ γὰρ οἴδασιν τί ποιοῦσιν διαμεριζόμενοι δὲ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἔβαλον κλῆρον
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
τὸ πνεῦμα ὅπου θέλει πνεῖ καὶ τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ ἀκούεις ἀλλ' οὐκ οἶδας πόθεν ἔρχεται καὶ ποῦ ὑπάγει· οὕτως ἐστὶν πᾶς ὁ γεγεννημένος ἐκ τοῦ πνεύματος
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
ἀφῆκεν τὴν Ἰουδαίαν καὶ ἀπῆλθεν πάλιν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν
He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
Λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ὕπαγε φώνησον τὸν ἄνδρα σου καὶ ἐλθὲ ἐνθάδε
Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
ἀφῆκεν οὖν τὴν ὑδρίαν αὐτῆς ἡ γυνὴ καὶ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ λέγει τοῖς ἀνθρώποις
The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
ἐπύθετο οὖν παρ' αὐτῶν τὴν ὥραν ἐν ᾗ κομψότερον ἔσχεν· καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ ὅτι Χθὲς ὥραν ἑβδόμην ἀφῆκεν αὐτὸν ὁ πυρετός
Then inquired he of them the hour when he to began amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
ἤθελον οὖν λαβεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ εὐθέως τὸ πλοῖον ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς εἰς ἣν ὑπῆγον
Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.
εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς δώδεκα Μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς θέλετε ὑπάγειν
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
εἶπον οὖν πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ Μετάβηθι ἐντεῦθεν καὶ ὕπαγε εἰς τὴν Ἰουδαίαν ἵνα καὶ οἱ μαθηταί σου θεωρήσωσιν τὰ ἔργα σοῦ ἃ ποιεῖς·
His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἔτι μικρὸν χρόνον μεθ' ὑμῶν εἰμι καὶ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Κἂν ἐγὼ μαρτυρῶ περὶ ἐμαυτοῦ ἀληθής ἐστιν ἡ μαρτυρία μου ὅτι οἶδα πόθεν ἦλθον καὶ ποῦ ὑπάγω· ὑμεῖς δὲ οὐκ οἴδατε πόθεν ἔρχομαι καὶ ποῦ ὑπάγω
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
Εἶπεν οὖν πάλιν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἐγὼ ὑπάγω καὶ ζητήσετέ με καὶ ἐν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ ὑμῶν ἀποθανεῖσθε· ὅπου ἐγὼ ὑπάγω ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν
Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
ἔλεγον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι Μήτι ἀποκτενεῖ ἑαυτόν ὅτι λέγει Ὅπου ἐγὼ ὑπάγω ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν
Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
καὶ ὁ πέμψας με μετ' ἐμοῦ ἐστιν· οὐκ ἀφῆκέν με μόνον ὁ πατὴρ ὅτι ἐγὼ τὰ ἀρεστὰ αὐτῷ ποιῶ πάντοτε
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ὕπαγε νίψαι εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν τοῦ Σιλωάμ ὃ ἑρμηνεύεται Ἀπεσταλμένος ἀπῆλθεν οὖν καὶ ἐνίψατο καὶ ἦλθεν βλέπων
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
ἀπεκρίθη ἐκεῖνος καὶ εἶπέν ἄνθρωπος λεγόμενος Ἰησοῦς πηλὸν ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐπέχρισέν μου τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς καὶ εἶπέν μοι Ὕπαγε εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν τοῦ Σιλωὰμ καὶ νίψαι· ἀπελθὼν δὲ καὶ νιψάμενος ἀνέβλεψα
He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
ὁ μισθωτὸς δὲ καὶ οὐκ ὢν ποιμήν οὗ οὐκ εἰσιν τὰ πρόβατα ἴδια θεωρεῖ τὸν λύκον ἐρχόμενον καὶ ἀφίησιν τὰ πρόβατα καὶ φεύγει καὶ ὁ λύκος ἁρπάζει αὐτὰ καὶ σκορπίζει τὰ πρόβατα
But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί Ῥαββί νῦν ἐζήτουν σε λιθάσαι οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι καὶ πάλιν ὑπάγεις ἐκεῖ
His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
οἱ οὖν Ἰουδαῖοι οἱ ὄντες μετ' αὐτῆς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ καὶ παραμυθούμενοι αὐτήν ἰδόντες τὴν Μαρίαν ὅτι ταχέως ἀνέστη καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῇ λέγοντες ὅτι ὑπάγει εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον ἵνα κλαύσῃ ἐκεῖ
The Jews which then were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ τεθνηκὼς δεδεμένος τοὺς πόδας καὶ τὰς χεῖρας κειρίαις καὶ ἡ ὄψις αὐτοῦ σουδαρίῳ περιεδέδετο λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Λύσατε αὐτὸν καὶ ἄφετε ὑπάγειν
And he that was dead came forth, bound with hand and foot graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
ἐὰν ἀφῶμεν αὐτὸν οὕτως πάντες πιστεύσουσιν εἰς αὐτόν καὶ ἐλεύσονται οἱ Ῥωμαῖοι καὶ ἀροῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν τόπον καὶ τὸ ἔθνος
If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἄφες αὐτήν εἰς τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ ἐνταφιασμοῦ μου τετηρήκεν αὐτό·
Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
ὅτι πολλοὶ δι' αὐτὸν ὑπῆγον τῶν Ἰουδαίων καὶ ἐπίστευον εἰς τὸν Ἰησοῦν
Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἔτι μικρὸν χρόνον τὸ φῶς μεθ'' ὑμῶν ἐστιν περιπατεῖτε ἕως τὸ φῶς ἔχετε ἵνα μὴ σκοτία ὑμᾶς καταλάβῃ· καὶ ὁ περιπατῶν ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ οὐκ οἶδεν ποῦ ὑπάγει
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
εἰδὼς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι πάντα δἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ὁ πατὴρ εἰς τὰς χεῖρας καὶ ὅτι ἀπὸ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθεν καὶ πρὸς τὸν θεὸν ὑπάγει
Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
τεκνία ἔτι μικρὸν μεθ' ὑμῶν εἰμι· ζητήσετέ με καὶ καθὼς εἶπον τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ὅτι Ὅπου ὑπάγω ἐγὼ ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν καὶ ὑμῖν λέγω ἄρτι
Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
Λέγει αὐτῷ Σίμων Πέτρος Κύριε ποῦ ὑπάγεις ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ὅπου ὑπάγω οὐ δύνασαί μοι νῦν ἀκολουθῆσαι ὕστερον δὲ ἀκολουθήσεις μοι
Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
Λέγει αὐτῷ Θωμᾶς Κύριε οὐκ οἴδαμεν ποῦ ὑπάγεις· καὶ πῶς δυνάμεθα τὴν ὁδὸν εἰδέναι
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
Εἰρήνην ἀφίημι ὑμῖν εἰρήνην τὴν ἐμὴν δίδωμι ὑμῖν· οὐ καθὼς ὁ κόσμος δίδωσιν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν μὴ ταρασσέσθω ὑμῶν ἡ καρδία μηδὲ δειλιάτω
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not be your heart troubled, neither let it be afraid.
ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐγὼ εἶπον ὑμῖν Ὑπάγω καὶ ἔρχομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς εἰ ἠγαπᾶτέ με ἐχάρητε ἄν ὅτι εἶπον πορεύομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὅτι ὁ πατὴρ μού μείζων μού ἐστιν
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
οὐχ ὑμεῖς με ἐξελέξασθε ἀλλ' ἐγὼ ἐξελεξάμην ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔθηκα ὑμᾶς ἵνα ὑμεῖς ὑπάγητε καὶ καρπὸν φέρητε καὶ ὁ καρπὸς ὑμῶν μένῃ ἵνα ὅ τι ἂν αἰτήσητε τὸν πατέρα ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου δῷ ὑμῖν
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
νῦν δὲ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐρωτᾷ με Ποῦ ὑπάγεις
But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
περὶ δικαιοσύνης δέ ὅτι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου ὑπάγω καὶ οὐκ ἔτι θεωρεῖτέ με·
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με ὅτι ἐγὼ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
εἶπον οὖν ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει ἡμῖν Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με καί Ὅτι ἐγὼ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα
Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
ἐξῆλθον παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ ἐλήλυθα εἰς τὸν κόσμον· πάλιν ἀφίημι τὸν κόσμον καὶ πορεύομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα
I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
ἰδού ἔρχεται ὥρα καὶ νῦν ἐλήλυθεν ἵνα σκορπισθῆτε ἕκαστος εἰς τὰ ἴδια καὶ ἐμὲ μόνον ἀφῆτε· καὶ οὐκ εἰμὶ μόνος ὅτι ὁ πατὴρ μετ' ἐμοῦ ἐστιν
Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
ἀπεκρίθη ὁ Ἰησοῦς Εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι· εἰ οὖν ἐμὲ ζητεῖτε ἄφετε τούτους ὑπάγειν·
Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
ἄν τινων ἀφῆτε τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἀφιένται αὐτοῖς ἄν τινων κρατῆτε κεκράτηνται
Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
λέγει αὐτοῖς Σίμων Πέτρος Ὑπάγω ἁλιεύειν λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Ἐρχόμεθα καὶ ἡμεῖς σὺν σοί ἐξῆλθον καὶ ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον εὐθὺς καὶ ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ νυκτὶ ἐπίασαν οὐδέν
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
μετανόησον οὖν ἀπὸ τῆς κακίας σου ταύτης καὶ δεήθητι τοῦ Θεοῦ εἰ ἄρα ἀφεθήσεταί σοι ἡ ἐπίνοια τῆς καρδίας σου
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
καὶ τοι γε οὐκ ἀμάρτυρον ἑαυτὸν ἀφῆκεν ἀγαθοποιῶν οὐρανόθεν ἡμῖν ὑετοὺς διδοὺς καὶ καιροὺς καρποφόρους ἐμπιπλῶν τροφῆς καὶ εὐφροσύνης τὰς καρδίας ἡμῶν
Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
ὁμοίως τε καὶ οἱ ἄῤῥενες ἀφέντες τὴν φυσικὴν χρῆσιν τῆς θηλείας ἐξεκαύθησαν ἐν τῇ ὀρέξει αὐτῶν εἰς ἀλλήλους ἄρσενες ἐν ἄρσεσιν τὴν ἀσχημοσύνην κατεργαζόμενοι καὶ τὴν ἀντιμισθίαν ἣν ἔδει τῆς πλάνης αὐτῶν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ἀπολαμβάνοντες
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural the use of woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Μακάριοι ὧν ἀφέθησαν αἱ ἀνομίαι καὶ ὧν ἐπεκαλύφθησαν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι·
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
ἐὰν δὲ καὶ χωρισθῇ μενέτω ἄγαμος ἢ τῷ ἀνδρὶ καταλλαγήτω καὶ ἄνδρα γυναῖκα μὴ ἀφιέναι
But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
Τοῖς δὲ λοιποῖς ἐγὼ λέγω οὐχ ὁ κύριος· εἴ τις ἀδελφὸς γυναῖκα ἔχει ἄπιστον καὶ αὕτη συνευδοκεῖ οἰκεῖν μετ' αὐτοῦ μὴ ἀφιέτω αὐτήν·
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
καὶ γυνὴ ἥτις ἔχει ἄνδρα ἄπιστον καὶ αὑτὸς συνευδοκεῖ οἰκεῖν μετ' αὐτῆς μὴ ἀφιέτω αὐτόν
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
πάντα ὑπέταξας ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν γὰρ τῷ ὑποτάξαι αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα οὐδὲν ἀφῆκεν αὐτῷ ἀνυπότακτον νῦν δὲ οὔπω ὁρῶμεν αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα ὑποτεταγμένα·
Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put in under all subjection him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
Διὸ ἀφέντες τὸν τῆς ἀρχῆς τοῦ Χριστοῦ λόγον ἐπὶ τὴν τελειότητα φερώμεθα μὴ πάλιν θεμέλιον καταβαλλόμενοι μετανοίας ἀπὸ νεκρῶν ἔργων καὶ πίστεως ἐπὶ θεόν
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
εἴπῃ δέ τις αὐτοῖς ἐξ ὑμῶν Ὑπάγετε ἐν εἰρήνῃ θερμαίνεσθε καὶ χορτάζεσθε μὴ δῶτε δὲ αὐτοῖς τὰ ἐπιτήδεια τοῦ σώματος τί τὸ ὄφελος
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
καὶ ἡ εὐχὴ τῆς πίστεως σώσει τὸν κάμνοντα καὶ ἐγερεῖ αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος· κἂν ἁμαρτίας ᾖ πεποιηκώς ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise up; him and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
ἐὰν ὁμολογῶμεν τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμῶν πιστός ἐστιν καὶ δίκαιος ἵνα ἀφῇ ἡμῖν τὰς ἁμαρτίας καὶ καθαρίσῃ ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀδικίας
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
ὁ δὲ μισῶν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ ἐστὶν καὶ ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ περιπατεῖ καὶ οὐκ οἶδεν ποῦ ὑπάγει ὅτι ἡ σκοτία ἐτύφλωσεν τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ
But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
Γράφω ὑμῖν τεκνία ὅτι ἀφέωνται ὑμῖν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι διὰ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
ἀλλ' ἔχω κατὰ σοῦ ὅτι τὴν ἀγάπην σου τὴν πρώτην ἀφῆκας
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Καὶ ἡ φωνὴ ἣν ἤκουσα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ πάλιν λαλοῦσα μετ' ἐμοῦ καὶ λέγουσα Ὕπαγε λάβε τὸ βιβλαρίδιον τὸ ἠνεῳγμένον ἐν τῇ χειρὶ ἀγγέλου τοῦ ἑστῶτος ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
καὶ βλέψουσιν ἐκ τῶν λαῶν καὶ φυλῶν καὶ γλωσσῶν καὶ ἐθνῶν τὰ πτώματα αὐτῶν ἡμέρας τρεῖς καὶ ἥμισυ καὶ τὰ πτώματα αὐτῶν οὐκ ἀφήσουσιν τεθῆναι εἰς μνῆματα
And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
